Ariza Cabrera Juan David

Juan David Ariza is from Colombia, he did his undergraduate studies through an excellence scholarship "Beca Magis" awarded by Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, one of the top 5 colombian universities, which awarded him a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics degree in 2014.

As an electronic engineer he worked for 6 years in Smurfit Kappa Colombia as Automation and Control Engineer in charge of operational technologies and industrial networks.

In 2020 resumed his studies with the PIXNET Erasmus Mundus study programme, which took him to study in Pisa-Italy, Birmingham-United Kingdom and Osaka-Japan. His Master's thesis "Machine Learning Based Optical Eigenvalue Demodulation" allowed him to explore the impact of data science techniques to overcome noise and nonlinearities in long-haul fiber optic communication systems.

Misal Mansoor

I'm Misal from Pakistan. I completed my undergrad in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) from Air University, Pakistan. Then, I worked in the IT department of Style Textile for about a year as a Management Trainee Officer. In 2020, I was selected for Erasmus Mundus scholarship for Master's degree in PIXNET. I completed my first two semesters at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Italy, third semester at Aston University, UK and last semester at Osaka University, Japan. My thesis was on the topic "Development of a Multi-Radio Container Tracking Device for Global Logistics Services".

During the degree, I had the opportunity to do an internship and a contractual project with CNIT. I had the chance to explore many cultures and make life-long friends from different parts of the globe. The PIXNET program not only prepared me for the next stage of my career but also helped me to grow as a person. Now I am starting a new chapter of my life as a Project Manager at Mayfair Technology Partners.

Nassar Aser

I'm Aser Nassar. I am originally from Suez, Egypt. I have received my bachelor's degree with high honours in electrical and electronics engineering from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (Ankara,Turkey) in 2020.
Afterwards, I was selected for the Erasmus Mundus master's programme PIXNET. I spent my first year in Aston University (Birmingham, UK) and second year in Eindhoven University of Technology (Eindohven, Netherlands). My master's thesis "Semiconductor Fourier Domain Mode-Locked Laser for Optical Coherence Tomography" allowed me to do considerable amount of both theoretical and lab-based investigation on the promising active/ passive photonic integration technology in InP platform at 1550 nm. So far, my work contributed to two well known conferences: European Conference of Integrated Optics (ECIO) and International Semiconductor Laser Conference (ISLC), while further publications are in progress. Currently, I'm working in ASML as an Application Engineer supporting global customers with the newest lithography systems to push the semiconductor industry forward.
Since my childhood, I was always fascinated by Light and how we were able to manipulate it for the greatest technology innovations. No doubts, PIXNET made the perfect match for me to presume my passion and professional career.

Olagunju Aolawalw Hammed

The PIXNET (Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors and Networks) Master’s Programme allowed me to study in three different parts of the world while observing the cultural contrasts from one part to the other. From the Colosseum of Rome to the Tower Bridge of London and the Kiyomizu Temple of Kyoto; I have done enough sightseeing and adventures that could last me a lifetime. I've gained so much knowledge in this programme as well as made lifelong friends. Words fail to adequately describe how much impression this programme has had on me. As a culmination of the degrees earned, I am currently a Technology Solutions Consultant at KPMG UK.

Raihan Rakib

Mr. Md. Rakib Raihan has finished his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineer (EEE) degree from American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB). Mr. Raihan was awarded with Cum Laude academic award from AIUB.

Mr. Raihan was awarded with the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and got selected into the PIXNET program in 2020. He finished his first year from the Aston University, UK and the second year from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Italy. His MSc thesis topic was “RF signal generation for next generation antenna array system by using programmable photonic integrated circuit” and this thesis was done with the Ericsson R&D team in TeCIP, Italy.

Currently Mr. Rakib Raihan is working at ASML as a Troubleshoot Engineer NPI in Netherlands.

Rodro Samaun Jahan

I am Samaun Jahan Rodro, born in 1994, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I completed mB.Sc. degree in Electronics and Information Engineering from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing, China, in 2018. From July 2019 to September 2019, I worked as a Technical Assistant at Enrac LTD, Bangladesh. I completed the PIXNET Erasmus Mundus joint Master course in September 2022 with triple degrees from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Italy), Osaka University (Japan), and Aston University (the UK). My research interests include optical communications and networking.

Safiriyu Akeem Olalekan

I had a bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with focus on Electronics and communication system. My interest in Photonics integration was due to Electromagnetic interference challenge encountered while working on electronics circuits, inverter system communication network design as an embedded system engineer.

After much exposure from the PIXNET master program, i decided to pursue a PhD degree in photonics Integration.  I am currently a PhD student under the Clear-Doc MSCA program at Universite Gustave Eiffel. I am currently researching on developing Silicon Photonics architecture for High data rate Radio-Over-Fiber (RoF) for 5G system and beyond. 

Vargas Cristian

I'm Cristian from Colombia. I did my bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering. After a couple of years working in the R&D and Telecommunications industries started the PIXNET program. Having completed my master's degree,  I obtained an engineering position at Pilot Photonics in Dublin.

Yagublu Kanan

I am Kanan from Azerbaijan, here is my story. Before starting my bachelor’s degree, I organized dozens of events, ‘Big Data Day Baku 2016’, ‘Genuino day’ etc. For ‘Genuino day’ I also developed a smart house network system using Arduino platform. Afterward, I started studying ‘Computer Science Engineering’ at the university of Debrecen Hungary and graduated from it in 2020 with highest GPA in the faculty. I have done my bachelor’s thesis in deep learning field.

I found out about one of the world's prestigious programs PIXNET which can provide me with the chance that I want for my future. In my first year of this program, I studied in Italy at the Santa Anna school of advance studies. In my second year, I came to Eindhoven university to continue my master's degree in Electrical Engineering again at one of the world’s top universities. I did my graduation project in measuring the linewidth of laser and the application of linewidth in continuous-variable quantum key distribution.

Zafar Muhammad Mohsin

I am Muhammad Mohsin Zafar from Pakistan, completed my bachelors in electrical/electronics engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). I, then, worked at an electric supply company for one year as Trainee Engineer, followed by two years of work experience with Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) as Assistant Manager. While working with PTCL, I was introduced to the field of photonics and so decided to join the PIXNET program to further explore the photonic/optoelectronic technologies. My PIXNET mobility path included Aston University (UK) and Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Italy). During PIXNET masters, I also got the opportunity to do master thesis internship with Ericsson (CNR Pisa) on reconfigurable photonics. Currently, I am doing PhD from University of Sussex (UK) focusing on laser based surgical tools for medical robots.

Zulfiqar Asim

Asim Zulfiqar received his BS degree in Electronic Engineering from Sir Syed university of engineering and technology (SSUET) in 2018. During his Bachelor's degree, he worked on several IoT and embedded system-based projects as a freelancer. As a PIXNET Scholar, he spent his first year at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy), his second year at Aston University (Birmingham, UK), and Osaka University (Osaka, Japan). In his Master's thesis, he worked on the Carrier frequency offset estimation method in the Eigenvalue domain.

Currently, he works as a "Scientific programmer for IoT research projects" at Leibniz Rechenzentrum (Munich, Germany).
