Ashraf Haris

Doing PIXNET master was an amazing experience. After my PIXNET Masters studies I worked as a Research Assistant/Marie Curie Researcher at Technical University of Denmark for around a year. My work was primarily related to the development of Tunable Laser sources for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) applications.

Devigili Mariano

Hello! I am Mariano and I was born in Trento, Italy. 

I obtained a BSc in Information and Communication Engineering at the University of Trento in 2019. During my undergraduate studies, I took part in an Erasmus+ exchange programme at the University of Valencia in Spain for 10 months and I did a 3 months internship at Telecomuniciones de Levante SL. 

Joining PIXNET in 2019 was one of the best choices in my life. PIXNET gave me the opportunity to live in Birmingham, in Osaka and in Pisa while attending the Aston University, the Handai and the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. In this journey I have met amazing friends and have grown both as human being and as engineer. I  will always be thankful to the PIXNET Consortium.

Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Spain.

Elaskar Plazas Javier Dario

I'm Javier from Argentina. I did my bachelor's in Electronic Engineering at Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in Argentina. Two years after my graduation I started my Pixnet degree in 2019 with the first year in Aston University, UK, and the second year in Scuola Sant'Anna, Italy. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in fiber optic sensors at Scuola Sant'Anna.

Erol Onur Hasan

Onur completed his bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Gazi University, Ankara/Turkey. During his studies he was also actively participating in Erasmus+ program. Completed part of his studies in Italy, Poland and Spain.

He joint PIXNET program in 2019 and completed his master's degree studies in Scuola Superiore Santanna, Pisa/Italy and Technology University of Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Currently he is working as Application Engineer at ASML in Netherlands. ASML is the leading company in semiconductor industry by their state of art lithography machines. His work focuses on metrology applications in semiconductor fabrication processes.

Onur is also volunteering in Erasmus Mundus Association as country representative of the Netherlands to support prospective students and alumni.

Giron Castro Bernard Jonathan

Bernard is from San Salvador, El Salvador. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering with CUM Laude honour from Don Bosco University, one of El Salvador’s leading universities in Engineering. Afterwards, he was awarded a full scholarship for the Erasmus+ PIXNET Master’s programme. He spent his first year at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Italy), his third semester at Aston University (UK), and he completed his Master’s thesis under the supervision of Osaka University (Japan).

Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in the Machine Learning in Photonic Systems group at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as a member of the OPTIC-AI project, under the supervision of Senior Researcher Francesco Da Ros and Prof. Darko Zibar. His doctoral work consists in devising novel schemes for implementing photonic reservoir computing with a special focus on practical schemes using silicon photonics technology as a way of pushing the state-of-the-art of optical hardware for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He considers PIXNET a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that has allowed him to pursue his career dreams and meet extraordinary people and cultures from all around the world.

Khan Lareb Zar

Lareb Zar Khan received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan in 2017. He then worked for Pakistan’s largest telecommunication company for two years where he mainly dealt with copper access networks. Following two years of industrial experience, he resumed his studies with an Erasmus Mundus graduate study program, PIXNET. In his Master’s thesis, he worked on Signal Processing Algorithms for Fiber Nonlinearity compensation. A particular focus was sequence selection technique, optimized for nonlinear channels for estimating new and improved capacity lower bounds.

Currently, he is working as an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna under Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) within the MENTOR project. He will also be working in Infinera (Portugal) and Orange Labs (France) for eighteen months during his PhD.

Lim Aniqa Ibnat

Aniqa Ibnat Lim is a PhD candidate at University of Houston,USA. Her doctoral research focuses on optics and  photonics. Including characterization and designing of devices. Along with utilizing novel properties of nanomaterials and building functional systems; make efforts to synthesize, pattern, and integrate structures with control of physical dimension, morphology, chemical composition, and crystalline phase.

She received a PIXNET Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (IT) and Aston University (UK), and a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from MIST (BD).

Luong Quoc Dat

I'm Dat from Vietnam. I joined PIXNET in September 2019 and started at SSSA, Pisa, Italy, and TU/e, Eindhoven, The Netherlands for my second year. Now I am working in a Genexis as a network/software engineer.

Mostafa Munira Binte

I am Munira Binte Mostafa from Bangladesh. I have completed my Bachelor's in Physics from Middle East Technical University (Ankara, Turkey). I have always had a strong interest in Photonics and this lead me to being President of the Optics and Photonics Society (SPIE and Optica student chapter) in my university. I started my PIXNET journey with Aston University (UK) and Scuola Superiore santAnna (Pisa,Italy).

Ndamati Ikechi Theo

Ikechi is a native of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and he holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Physics from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. He started his PIXNET program at Scuola Superiore SantAnna before moving to Aston University for his second year. He carried out his thesis on “Iterative Optimization of Silicon Waveguide Structures For Spectral Broadening” at Osaka University. His research interest broadly involves the development of integrated photonic devices for telecommunication applications. He is now a PhD student at Johns Hopkins University where his research involves the design, fabrication and measurement of multi-layer photonic integrated circuit devices.

Nguyen Huy Quang

Huy got his Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He joined PIXNET and studied at Scuola Superiore Santanna, Pisa/Italy and Aston University, UK. His master thesis is on "New neural network designs for digital signal equalisers in high-modulation optical communication systems". He is now a PhD student at the Technical University of Denmark working on "Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution with Squeezed Light in Telecom Networks"

Orujov Farid

I studied for a bachelor's degree in Information Technologies and Systems Engineering at Baku Engineering University in Azerbaijan. I started PIXNET with two years of working experience as a Software Developer. After studying for a year at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa, and a semester at Aston University, Birmingham, I concluded my master's degree with the thesis work with the coordination of Osaka University. My thesis topic was "Image Sensor-based Visible Light Communication System with LED-mounted Drones for Post-disaster Monitoring".

Parasher Yaman

Yaman Parasher completed his Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors & Networks (PIXNET) in 2021. As a part of his master's, he completed his thesis at the Photonic Information Technology Group at Osaka University, Japan.

With a background in electronics and communication engineering, his expertise lies in optical communication and photonics. He holds diversified experience with optical system design tools alongside modeling, design, and simulation of advanced photonic integrated circuits.

He currently works as an Applications Engineer at EXFO, where he is working on building & testing world-class network infrastructure by working with major ISPs, TSPs, & Hyperscalers in the EMEA region.

EXFO is a Canadian telecommunications company that develops a test, monitoring, and analysis solutions for fixed and mobile network operators, web service companies, and equipment manufacturers.

Pratiwi Dini

Dini Pratiwi was born in Indonesia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Bina Nusantara University, Indonesia. She completed PIXNET EMJMD with three master degree from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Osaka University and Aston University. She is now pursuing PhD in Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions - Innovative Training Networks (MSCA-ITN) project OPTIVIST as an Early Stage Researcher at feelSpace GmbH and Universität Osnabrück in Germany. Her research focused on augmenting functional vision. She was also a musician at Jakarta City Philharmonic and ASEAN Youth Ensemble from 2015 to 2020.

Rajbhandari Samina

Hi! I am Samina from Nepal. I completed my bachelor's degree in electronics and communications from Kathmandu engineering college affiliated to Tribhuvan University. After two years of work experience, I joined PIXNET degree in 2019 with my first year spent at Aston University in Birmingham,UK and second year at Scuola Sant'Anna in Pisa, Italy. My master's thesis was titled Fabrication and characterization of Fiber Bragg grating sensors embedded in composite materials. This masters experience has proved to be a life changing step as I got the opportunity to  experience high quality education, different cultures, outlooks and many more. I am especially grateful for the amazing individuals I had the chance to meet during this masters program and call them my friends whom i will forever cherish

Rodrigues De Paula Alisson

Mr. Rodrigues holds a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the Brazilian University Federal of Goiás (UFG) with a blended contribution from Technische Hochschule Deggendorf (THD) in Germany. During the undergraduate he was a tutor, class representing, member of the robotic club and carried out a supervised undergraduate research, which he showed an affinity for research and development and aptitude for robotic, programming, electronic and photonic. Beyonde the hardskills, he is particularly interested in honing his softskills. He has good work experience in the automation industry, although currently focused in the optics and photonic field. In 2021 he completed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors, and Networks (PIXNET) at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna [Italy] and Aston University [UK], with thesis supervised by Osaka University [Japan]. At the end of his Master degree he envisages achieving a Ph.D. position, so that he can make a difference in the field of photonics in the future and being able to work with R&D.

Ruiz Pineda Carlos Alfredo

Carlos holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras. In 2019, he joined the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors and NETworks PIXNET. The master programme took place at Scuola Superiore SantAnna (Italy), Aston University (UK) and Osaka University (Japan).

His master thesis, titled "Characteristics of All-Optical Wavelength Conversion Using Silicon-Rich Nitride Waveguides", was the first ever study on all-optical simultaneous wavelength conversion for WDM signals. Carlos is currently working as an Optical Engineer in Valeo's R&D department in Spain.
